Aubrey C. King
For more than twenty years, Aubrey King has been a successful and respected Washington,
DC, lobbyist and trade association executive. He specializes in issues and programs
affecting the travel, tourism and recreation industries, particularly involving
transportation and the Federal public lands.
From 1988 to 1997, he was executive director of the Travel & Tourism Government
Affairs Council, a coalition of more than forty national industry trade associations and
corporate executives. In this position, he organized a national anti-tax campaign for the
industry, established the industrys first national grassroots network, and achieved
such lobbying successes as creation of the 1995 White House Conference on Travel and
Tourism and obtaining historic benefits for the industry in the 1991 ISTEA Highway Bill.
He is a member of the Transportation Research Boards Task Force on Transportation
Needs for National Parks and Public Lands and a Director of the Public Lands Foundation,
and he has served on the Executive Committee of the Congressional Travel and Tourism
Caucus Advisory Board and on the National Park Service Advisory Committee on Use,
Recreation and Tourism.
King received his M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University and his B.A. from Marshall
University. He has earned recognition as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the
American Society of Association Executives. He is an adjunct lecturer in Travel and
Tourism Public Policy at the George Washington University.
David Gorin
Since 1971, David Gorin has served national associations as both a lobbyist and chief
executive officer. In 30 years as a Washington professional, he has been associated with,
represented and lobbied on a wide diversity of issues and interests such as international
affairs, civil rights and social causes, renewable energy policy, international commerce
and standardization, tax policy, the environment, travel, tourism, recreation, public
lands and small business. He is experienced in dealing with the administrative and
legislative branches of government and has successfully worked with each.
From 1987 until December 31, 2001, Gorin served as President and CEO of the National
Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds. During the period 1971 through 1987, he held
the same positions with the Solar Energy Industries Association and the American National
Metric Council and directed the Washington offices of the American Jewish Congress and the
Conservative Synagogues of America. In 1976, he took a leave of absence from the American
Jewish Congress to assist in the People For Ford campaign to re-elect President Jerry
Ford. In 1966-67, he worked in the US House of Representatives for a New York City
congressman.
Gorin is widely recognized as a leader in the on-going battle to eliminate or reduce
unfair government competition with small business and as an expert in outdoor hospitality
and recreation, and the relationship between the private sector and public land agencies.
Gorin serves on the Board of Directors of the American Recreation Coalition and the Small
Business Legislative Council. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the
Travel & Tourism Government Affairs Council, and the Congressional Travel &
Tourism Caucus. He was a delegate and Task Force member of the White House Conference on
Travel & Tourism, the 1999 national chairman of the Small Business Legislative
Council, and national chairman of the Business Coalition for Fair Competition between 1996
and 1998. He also serves on the Executive Board of the National Capital Area of the Boys
Scouts of America, on the Board of the City of Falls Church Business in Education
Partnership and on the Board of the Lewinsville Coalition, a major Fairfax County, VA
civic organization.
Prior to moving to Washington, Gorin was a teacher and Human Relations Coordinator in the
New York City Public Schools. He has an undergraduate degree in Public Administration from
the City College of New York and holds graduate degrees in Business and Education from
American Unversity and the City College of New York, respectively.
